TO PLAY
WE SIMPLY NEED 2x THINGS…
CURIOSITY
— and —
IMAGINATION
…Yet who’d have thunk that because of the hidden nature of trauma, these things would be so difficult to reconnect with.
Through musical & vocal explorations, we invite you to come home to voice within your bones. Reclaiming Life isn’t always easy, but it becomes so when we do so together, hand-in-hand.

PERFORM & COLLABORATE
To be honest, I’m still learning what it is I do, musically — life’s a journey, right? What I do know, is that the songs, melodies, words that come to me are refined with pure intentions — to sooth the soul and reconnect the inner world.
SCRIPTED IMPROV — Part Invitation + Part Initiation. One thing I can say, is that when an intention is pure, the heart can heal with a little more ease. The music I share was gifted to me, and I wish to share in kind. Below, some sample TRANCE/missions.

Play the Super Bloom Way! Super Bloom was inspired by a rising need for women identifying beings to gather in a safe space, to learn & grow with the handpan as our guide. As Super Bloom Founder & Super Bloom Women’s Handpan Gathering Co-Organizer, I am honored to share the spirit of sisterhood through sounds of steel, via Super Bloom events like this one, the first Women’s Handpan Gathering in the US.
“My first experience at Super Bloom was in 2022. I was brand new to handpan and the community, but I couldn't find many groups where I live. I met some beautiful soul sisters that I have stayed connected with since this event, and I cannot wait to attend the one this year May 2023. So grateful, thank you.”

EMPOWERMENT
The handpan has reawakened me in ways I did not know I needed. As a result, my workshops are a combination of group conversation, intuitive instrument education, hands-on learning & vocal embodiment, explored in a fun, light hearted and introspective way.
TRANCE/missions
Music is medicine and so are stories. Below, world’s woven by both.
Footage, lyrics & music are all raw recordings with my phone.

“THERE’S A LITTLE VIBRATION, COMING FROM MY HEART”
In 2016, in the early hours just beyond my birthday, I lost a good friend. The kind of friend who felt more like a sister. The kind of friend I figured would be around into our twilight years. The kind of friend who shook me up because she was radically honest with herself, as I was learning how to be with myself. Even though I was in my late 30s, her transition was the first time I truly mourned someone I had lost. In that moment, I experienced what it meant to be a light for others who had lost theirs.
In the next few years I witnessed two friends, mothers of teens, lose their first borns to cancer. And collectively, since 2020, we’ve all experienced deeper connections with grief.
Needless to say, grief is real, and we all need gentle reminders to “Come Back Home.” This TRANCE/mission was humbly inspired by these experiences, and the deep wisdom found in death-rebirth-release cycles.

although I cannot claim to know / all pages of your book

our lives do overlap in ways / we never can predict
to trivialize the who’s and what’s / the where’s and how’s and why’s
resist it is for all the best / and learn to let it go
such simple words / but do not dare / to take them for their worthfor deep the dive is any treasure / if we do seek to find
unknowns will pop up everywhere / to test your rhythm and rhymeyou’re not alone / we’re here with you / with open loving arms
go start it now / for it will take / lifetimes to figure out….— sarah paz hyde

LIFE IS A MASH-UP. TWO SNIPPETS NOW TIMED.
#1 VISUALS | The Philippines, 2017
There were many places we went this trip, my mother, auntie, and I. During the last stretch of our travels we toured the country like "real filipinos". . .in a 14 passenger van, maxed out in every way. Near the end of this stretch, we stopped just on the other side of the bridge over this depressed waterway. It was windy, and the tall grasses beckoned my eyes and ears; the gift of time to be mesmerized.
#2 AUDIO | A Cappella, 05.02.18, “A Lullaby to Keep Me Honest”
Words (songs) come to me when I’m near water. Sometimes it’s a beautiful waterfall…sometimes it’s a bathroom, after a shower. . . Water moves me, clears me, and I'm happy to share these two pieces. A sweet, soft, lullaby, spoken word type thing. Reminders if you will.

PORTALS & PLACE
In addition to being a musician & educator, I’m also a visual artist. My first time photographing with a sense-of-purpose, a sense-of-self, was in high school. I would drive for hours, on the sunlit backroads of Southern Illinois, in my 1991 Toyota Cressida with the sunroof open, wind wisping my hair around my face, in search of magic.
In Wonder Lost I combine wheat paste and photography to create visual totems that glean curiosity from their surroundings. The photo series gypsy sōl nō[w]here is a travelog of places near and far.
In working with analog mediums, both bodies of work become visual reminders to slow down life with all of the senses, making it easier to focus and find the bountiful peaceful pieces strewn about the everyday.
